Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with high patient turnover in a busy unit is preferred. Description: This is a stepdown unit with 32 beds. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:3-4, with occasional charge nurse responsibilities. Charge nurses are available on the unit. CNA support is provided with a ratio of 1:8-12. All nurses on the unit read telemetry strips and have remote monitoring techs available. Common diagnoses include CVA/TIA, STEMI/NSTEMI, chest pain, ACS, CHF, renal failure, respiratory distress, DKA/HHNK, PE/DVT, atrial fibrillation, and pre/post-cardiac procedures. IV team services are available from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy support is also available 24/7. This unit experiences high patient turnover. The team is cohesive and welcomes travelers as integral members. All team members must not be absent for more than three days without a valid reason. Extended leave is not permitted without proper justification to maintain fairness among staff. Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done using a specified electronic health record system. Experience with Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis is a plus but not required.
